I don’t know if anyone follows this blog religiously, but I thought I’d post this anyway.
I’ve been running this blog for about 3 years now and almost every week without fail, I’d somehow find a way to post something that’s most probably about Android.
When June 2021 came, I stopped for a while. Why is that?
About a month ago, I decided to begin my journey on TikTok, and very quickly I realised that this is something I wanted to take very seriously.
When I saw that I was getting traction like I never did before, I thought I needed to shift my focus a little. Never on anywhere before did I ever get 4k+ followers in a single month!
Not to mention, I very much enjoy the process of making TikTok videos and do it pretty much everyday now.
Most of it is trashy memes about programming, but I throw in a few informative videos here and there too. Go check it out.
As opposed to the Android theme that this blog has followed over the years, my TikTok is targeted to a much more general audience of programmers.
In fact, most of the interactions I have with my followers show me that a lot of them are in fact, students, either studying computer science or just about to.
Will this affect the blog on this website? Ehhh, kinda.
The blog after today
Posting on TikTok made me realise something: I want to cater to an audience of people who either looking to get into programming or at the beginning of their journey.
As such, I’ll look into writing some posts catered to those such as what each of the programming languages are good for or how to become a web developer and stuff like that.
Will the Android content be going away? Of course not!
At the end of the day after all, I am still primarily an Android Developer, and over the years, this blog has been my primary way of learning and trying out new stuff. This is the reason I know all the Android Dev things I do now!
I’ll still post AT LEAST once month on this blog starting July. May be more, may be less, depending on how busy I am, who knows. I still want to continue to document my learning journey as an Android Dev.
Very much of it in the near future will be about Jetpack Compose as I start developing a new app based around it.
Will I decide on a regular date every month to post at least? I’ll try. Right now, I’m thinking of aiming for the second Monday of every month. We’ll see if I manage to stick to that.
Other than that, expect a much wider variety of content on this blog, both Android and more general programming things.
Why is the blog now called Eric the Coder?
That’s purely a rebranding thing. I’m still the same Eric Decanini you all know and love (I hope), but I thought I’d take up a more interesting name.
This change followed my decision to double down on all my socials (which I really need to keep up, I must remind myself there are more platforms than just TikTok out there).
So if you want to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even YouTube, here are the links to those.
And as always, happy coding ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
